Verbatim DVD+R9 ''dual layer'' sono dei supporti ottici basati sul tale tecnologia. Sono costituiti da due sottili strati di materiale organico, ognuno registrabile in modo indipendente e in grado di contenere 4,25 GB di dati (per un totale di 8.5GB). La capacità aggregata dei due layer consente di registrare fino a quattro ore di video in qualità DVD o 16 ore di video in qualità VHS. L'attuale versione dello standard, la 1.0, fissa la velocità di scrittura dei DVD a doppio layer a 2,4x. Numero DVD : 5 pezzi in Jewel Case (custodia normale tipo cd discografici).
